Hi! Welcome to my learning portfolio!
About Me
Hi! My name is Chitra Sunil and I am a first-year student at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Medical Sciences. l am originally from Kerala, India, but came to the U.S. and lived in Carmel, Indiana for 15 years, a city located about 2 hours away from Cincinnati. From a young age, I have always been intrigued by medicine and have known that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. As I grew older and gained more experiences through science courses and shadowing, I learned that patient care and taking steps to improve the healthcare system are two things I wish to focus on as I navigate the Medical Sciences program, and ultimately, med school. I have learned that the quality of the U.S. Healthcare System is not as 'up to par' as it should be, considering the amount of money spent on it. Along with that, access to healthcare is highly dependent on one's socioeconomic status, meaning many people are not getting the treatment that they need, simply because they cannot afford it. I believe that the Med Sci program and UHP will allow me to follow my passions and will give me the opportunities I would like to achieve this.
Aside from my passion for medicine, I am also an Indian classical dancer, and worked as a student dance teacher when I was in high school. In my free time, I love to cook, sing, dance, hang out with friends and family, listen to music, and travel!
